So Suprising, Newscaster Daughter Interrupts Live Broadcast
What would you have done, if it were you?

Lena Alwash, a news anchor on Moroccan Medi1 TV, was interrupted during a live broadcast when her daughter decided to drop in and return a cell phone.
A Moroccan newscaster was on a live broadcast on the Medi 1 television channel recently when her daughter surprisingly appeared on the screen, tapped her on the shoulder and tried to hand her a smart phone.
Lena Alwash managed to maintain composure, responding with only a faintly raised eyebrow and a shake of the head before continuing as if nothing happened. What a funny scenario...
Footage of the broadcast showed the little daughter backing away upon the realization of the fact that her mum was on air.

ASUU May Call Off Strike

The end of this long ASUU strike is very near as the document was made available yesterday at the meeting of the presidential committee on implementation of the NEEDS assessment in the universities with the leaders of the four university-based unions – the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The President of SSANU, Samson Ugwoke, made the revelation while addressing his union members at the SSANU National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the weekend at the University of Abuja.
Ugwoke, briefing the SSANU members on the activities of the NEEDS assessment implementation committee, led by Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam. He noted that the fund was different from the N100 billion Governor Suswam had raised from donor agencies and big companies to tackle the problems of Nigerian universities in 2013.
The labour leader said: “Let me give you a tip on what the NEEDS assessment committee is doing. The president has approved that within the next four years; N400 billion would be expended in infrastructural development of Nigerian universities, to transform the universities to international standard.
“N100 billion has already been raised by Suswam committee out of which 61 universities have been penciled down, as contained in the NEEDS assessment committee.
The N100 billion is expected to address needs of the universities in the areas which include re-furbishing and renovation of lecture theaters and lecture halls, re-furbishing and renovation of laboratories/libraries and the renovation of hostels.
“The second category is building of new hostels of international standard, self-contained rooms, the latest model in the world. That is the standard to be built in every university, and also the state-of-the-art laboratories as well as classrooms, lecture theaters and the halls.”
Ugwoke pointed out that the money had been shared and out of the N100 billion, N96 billion had been sent to universities.
He added: “The committee is meeting again on Monday, and by Monday (today), the document will be out. This time around, it is not only by giving university money, but it will be monitored to ensure that the money is used to transform the universities, to bail universities out of the present situation and developed to an international recognized university standard.”

Nigerians must go to hellfire for saying we've never had a true leader - Obasanjo

For those of you complaining that Nigeria has never had a good leader, Nigeria's former president Olusegun Obasanjo has a message for you - you must go to hellfire for thinking that.
He said: "Does it mean 50 years of Nigeria we haven't got any leader that you can say made a mark? If that's the case then we must all go to hellfire. How can we say that? "
He then mentioned some of his achievements as military head of state and president.
I think this is funny but serious. hmm OBJ.

What a Calamity! Trader Beats Policeman to Death

The Lagos State Police Command has commenced investigations into the killing of a police corporal, Ado Ayuba, who was lynched by some hoodlums in Suru Alaba area of the state. (Above pic: not the police officer killed)
According to the police, the victim was beaten to death by an irate mob for allegedly killing a trader, Mustapha Mohammed, on July 30, 2013.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Ayuba and
another policeman were deployed to the scene to chase away traders who
had illegally taken over a portion of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
It was learnt that trading activities by
the traders usually caused gridlock in the area. It was also learnt
that some residents and motorists had complained to relevant authorities
about the inconveniences caused by the traders. It was said that a
construction company working on the road had also made appeal to the
government to check the traders.
A senior policeman, who spoke to our
correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said, “Ayuba and the
policeman were posted to the area to chase away traders who had taken
over that portion of the road. The road is under construction by Chinese
Construction Engineering Company and the company had complained that
its makeshift construction site was being hijacked by traders.
“On the day of the incident, Ayuba and another policeman were dispersing the traders when things went wrong.
“We were told that the traders
overpowered the policemen and in an attempt to protect himself and his
colleague, Ayuba opened fire into the crowd and killed a trader
(Mohammed).
“Ayuba’s colleague immediately fled,
leaving him alone with the hoodlums. The hoodlums seized Ayuba’s gun
from him, picked up stones and sticks and beat him up without mercy.
“Some soldiers arrived at the scene and
attempted to rescue the policeman. But the soldiers were greatly
outnumbered by the uncontrollable mob, which overpowered them and chased
them away.”
Our correspondent learnt that by the
time the police back-up arrived and managed to disperse the mob, Ayuba
was unconscious from the beatings he had received.
The policemen were said to have rushed Ayuba and Mohammed to the hospital where they were confirmed dead.
Lagos State Police Public Relations
Officer, Ngozi Braide, told our correspondent that the matter had been
transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.
She said, “The matter is under investigation at the SCID. Investigations will reveal what happened.”

Dr Charles Eguridu, the
Head of National Office (HNO) of WAEC, announced
the results on Wednesday when addressing a news conference in Lagos.
Eguridu said 889,636 candidates obtained six credits and above, while 1,074,065 others obtained five credits and above.
According to him, the results of 145,505 others, representing 8.62 per cent, were being processed due to some errors.
“The
se
errors are traceable to the candidates as well as their schools in the
course of registration or writing the examination.’’
The HNO
explained that such errors were being corrected by the council to enable
the affected candidates to get their results fully processed and
released subsequently.
Eguridu disclosed that the council cancelled the result of 2,176 candidates.
He explained that the cancellation was due to multiple entries by the candidates discovered while processing the results.
“In
line with the council’s regulation, the entire results of such
candidates who have been found guilty of this act had been cancelled, “
he said.
The HNO also said 112,865 results of candidates, representing 6.75 per cent, were withheld due to examination malpractice.
Eguridu
pointed out that the cases were being investigated and that reports of
the investigations would be presented to the Nigeria Examinations
Committee (NEC) for consideration.
Further breakdown revealed that
1,225,591 candidates obtained credits and above in four subjects,
1,353,273 obtained credits and above in three subjects, while 1,465,581
obtained credits and above in two subjects.
Eguridu said that of
the 121 blind candidates, 117 attempted it while 24 obtained five
credits in five subjects including English Language.
“Blind candidates do not take Mathematics and Science Practical in WASSCE diets“, he said.
He hailed security agencies for providing the much needed security throughout the conduct of the examination.
The
HNO said that despite the security challenge in the country, especially
in some parts of the North-East, the council was able to conduct the
examination.
“We thank the Federal government and security
agencies particularly in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States for the support
rendered the council during the conduct of our examination.
“We
equally commend the Federal and State Ministries of Education for their
support in terms of their facilities and logistics given to us during
the conduct of the examination.’’
He decried the murder of three of the council’s personnel by gunmen while on their way from Yola to Maiduguri.
The candidates can check their results online on the council’s website within 24 hours of the declaration of the results. READ MORE: http://news.naij.com/42926.html
